Spooky and child-friendly Halloween afternoon to take place in Newark Market Place
A spooky yet child-friendly afternoon is to take place in Newark Market Place on Thursday.
Held from 11am to 2pm on the scariest day of the year, children are encouraged to get involved in pumpkin painting and a Halloween fancy dress competition.
Winners of the best pumpkin will be announced in the market by the Newark Mayor Irene Brown.

The event is being put on by the Newark market manager Ian Harrison and organiser Louise Clark, and it is only £1 per child.
"Myself and Ian Harrison decided with the success of last year's pumpkin painting, that we would do it all again," said Louise.
"With so many stresses with money and children in the half-term, myself being a mum-of-five, I wanted an affordable activity for Newark people.
"So for only £1, you get to choose a pumpkin and paint it, and we are also providing free face painting," she said. "All pumpkins will go into a competition and judged by the mayor at 2pm to win fabulous prizes."
"We will also have a cake stall aimed at children and the Jam lady with all sorts of lovely produce including pumpkin jam."
Children will be able to take away their painted pumpkins.
