The Olympic Games was the theme for a flower festival that attracted around 650 people at the weekend.

The Friends of Rolleston Church created displays using flowers the colour of the Olympic logo rings — red, black, blue, green and yellow.

A flower festival is held every two years in Holy Trinity Church, Rolleston.

It was open from Saturday to Monday and raised more than £800 towards the cost of installing a toilet in the church.

The chairman of the Friends of Rolleston Church, Mrs Beryl Northcote (60) of Staythorpe Road, Rolleston, said: “The flower festivals are a good opportunity for us to get together and have a laugh and raise some money.”

The flower arrangements were created by Mrs Northcote, Mrs Sheila Taylor (81) of Greenaway, Rolleston, Mrs Jill Fish (45) and Mrs Claire Foster of Fiskerton Road, Rolleston, Mrs Janice Collinson (59) of Station Road, Rolleston, Angela Green (60) of Gibsmere and Mrs Elizabeth Blakey (69) of Station Road, Rolleston.
