Springs delights on show
A display of orchids was among the attractions at this year’s Farnsfield and District Horticultural Society spring show.
Eighteen exhibitors took part in the event, in Farnsfield Village Centre on Saturday.
The society’s secretary, Mrs Sue Thornton, said although the number of exhibitors was the same as last year the number of exhibits was down from 184 to 159 because of the weather.
She said: “Bad weather ruined a lot of people’s daffodils, and the show itself is more or less completely taken up with daffodils so that reduced the number of entries.
“People always make an effort and we had some lovely entries in the spring flowers in a vase class.”
A raffle raised about £60 for the horticultural society.
Mrs Thornton said that four new members joined at the show.
“Last year I think we had two new members join at the summer show so to have four members join at this time of year was very pleasing,” Mrs Thornton said.
