Newark District Scouts and Guides will be parading across Newark for St George’s Day





Scout and guide groups will be parading on the streets of Newark introducing their next Scout section to the parade.

Newark District Scouts will parade from the starting point at Mount C of E Primary School, before marching to the Market Place.

This year’s parade, which takes place on Sunday (April 28) will introduce the Scout’s new section — Squirrels.

The parade will begin at 10.45am and make its way to Market Place via Middlegate.

It will finishing in the Market Place in front of the Town Hall where Scouts will renew their promise and awards will be presented.

Between 12noon and 2pm there will be several activities for Scouts and Guides at Market Place.

Road closures will be in place from 10am to 12noon affecting Kings Road, Boar Lane, Kirkgate and Middlegate.

Jack Kellas, the Scouts county youth lead of Nottinghamshire said: “Our annual St George's Day Parade is a great display of local Scouting and Guiding, whilst celebrating our patron saint.

“We are always immensely proud of how our young people turn out, and the support we receive from the local community.

“Come rain or shine we know our young people and excellent volunteers will make this year's parade as impressive as every other.”
