Nottinghamshire Police investigation into Parliament Street, Newark, stabbing puts 16-year-old suspect before courts




A 16-year-old has appeared in court in connection with a stabbing in Newark.

A man in his 40s suffered stab wounds after an altercation outside a property in Parliament Street around 7.20pm on September 22, 2025.

The victim was taken to hospital with injuries which are not life-altering or life-threatening in nature.

Officers conducted forensic, door-to-door and CCTV investigations in the area, and detectives investigating the incident have now placed a suspect before the courts.

A 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with attempting to commit grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a knife in a public place.

He appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (October 14) and is next due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on November 12.

Two men, aged 21 and 46, and a 17-year-old boy, who were all arrested in relation to the incident, remain on police bail.

Detective Sergeant James Hirst, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We have shared this important development with the victim and can now inform the wider community.

“We are grateful to those who have assisted our investigation by providing information.

“The force understands the concern any incident of this nature can have, but we continue to believe this was an isolated incident posing no wider risk to the community.”
