Star volunteer from Newark walks hundreds of miles for Robin Hood Theatre in Averham
A woman has walked almost 2,000 miles to raise money for her local theatre.
Kim Laughton, 42, completed the 1,748-mile challenge on Saturday, for the Robin Hood Theatre in Averham.
Her efforts have raised £295 so far.
On the final day, Kim walked from the Palace Theatre in Mansfield back to the Robin Hood Theatre, a distance of just under 20 miles
She was joined by her friend, Tracey Carlisle, for the final three miles.
“It’s been energising. It’s amazing how many miles I can do in a week. It’s something I never thought I would be able to do,” Kim said.
She began the challenge on January 4 and has since then walked the distance from Land’s End to John O’Groats and back using a virtual activity tracker.
Of all the people who took part, Kim finished third overall and was the first woman to finish.
The youth theatre volunteer will now be taking a month off fundraising to rest and relax before choosing her next task.
Kim also completed a fundraising walk last summer, trekking 20 miles from the Lace Market Theatre in Nottingham to Averham.
