Reader’s letter: Stay safe

It is that time of year again when cyclists needlessly put themselves at risk by taking unnecessary risks.

Last weekend I came within a whisker of hitting a cyclist as he rode at speed on to a roundabout without stopping or even looking — and wearing dark clothes and no lights on his bike.

Luckily I spotted him at the last second and managed to slam on my brakes. He just continued on his merry way without a backwards glance as I steadied my heart! — A. CHAMBERS, Newark.
