Music project run by Sherwood Forest Education Partnership hopes to boost community spirit after receiving lottery fund
A music project involving children, families and older residents has been given a boost after obtaining lottery funding.
Sherwood Forest Education Partnership is making an intergenerational music project with Ollerton residents.
They are working in partnership with Superbee Community Studio, in Ollerton, to bring the benefits of music making to people of all ages.
The group, called Together In Time, will document their stories through songs to celebrate the past and raise aspirations for a brighter future.
Several years ago, Ollerton of Yesteryear group collected information from the past and compiled two books. When the group folded, the original collection of photos, tapes, films and artefacts was stored away and largely forgotten.
Its recent discovery in a school cupboard, and subsequent donation to the new group, has led to a collaborative idea that captures the voice of the people, inspired by the collection.
