A council was requested to suggest street names for the next phase of Middlebeck development.
Housebuilder Miller Homes contacted Newark and Sherwood District Council to supply street names for the development, despite planning permission still waiting for approval.
Six street names will possibly be required and Newark Town Council was asked to provide a list of names for the current phase and possible future ones.
The councillors suggestions included: Pottery, Flint. Kiln. Roman. Axe. Stone. Iron. Whetstone. Jet. Whitby. Langdale. Cumbria. Sendler. Emily. Sandomierz. Kiddey. Governor. White. Hart. Moot. Disney. Quarry. Alabaster. Gypsum. Selene. Selenite. Paris (plaster of). Crystal. Portland (cement). Robin. Marian. Tuck. Scarlet. John. Loxley. Chine. Haslet. Melton. Stilton. Godiva (lady). Eleanor (Queen). Henrietta Maria (Queen). Winifred Marshall Gales. Ethel Harrison. Viscountess Charlotte. Ossington. Constance Penswick Smith. Roma Parlby. Pipistrelle (bat). Natterer (bat). Hedgehog. Badger. Cresswell, Spick.
It was also suggested to name the streets after some of Newark and Sherwood District parishes that haven’t got streets named after them.
