Southwell Minster student, 12, records Christmas song after winning song contest — and sales will go to Teenage Cancer Trust

An 11-year-old student has professionally recorded her own song after winning a competition.

Annabella Whittaker, now 12, won the Minster School’s song competition with her Christmas single Under The Tree.

Her song, which can be found on the Southwell school’s website, will also raise funds for Teenage Cancer Trust.

Annabella, who sings and plays the piano and violin, said: “I started when they announced the competition and straight away I had three different tunes in my head.

“I put them together and ended up with the tune for the song.”

Her mum, Nicola, said: “I am extremely proud, and to say it was open to the whole school and she won as a year seven is amazing.

“She is really into music, and she wants to be in the west end.”
