Successful return for annual Collingham show after pandemic
Thousands of visitors gave Collingham Show and Ploughing Match a successful return from covid.
The annual show returned on Saturday after a two-year absence because of the pandemic.
It attracted 3,500 to 4,000 visitors to the event at Larksfield.
“It was a fantastic success after missing two years,” said Diane Rowland, chairman of organisers Collingham and District Agricultural Society.
“There were more people this year than the past years, and the people were thanking us for the lovely event before leaving.”
It featured traditional agricultural contests, such as ploughing and plashing.
There were also dog agility competitions and displays of vintage vehicles and tractors, as well as exhibits of homegrown produce and children’s artwork.
Competition categories ranged from longest carrot to breadmaking and cake decorating.
Next year’s show and ploughing match will take place on Saturday, September 16.
There will also be a spring show on February 26.
