Taxes on the rise

By NewarkAdvertiser Reporter

They didn’t waste time did they? With the fizzy drinks tax only moments old, the treasury minister said more is to come on other food items.

Remember George Osborne’s disaster over pasties? This would be worse.

When I was at school in the 1950s we had sports afternoons, playing every sport that burnt calories.

Not today it seems, because the school fears getting sued if a child is hurt.

But what happens today as children leave school? They go straight upstairs, playing on computer games and getting no exercise.

So good luck in the elections if the Conservative Party is going to bring in more stealth taxes on other food items. — D. Hinchley, Acacia Road, Balderton.
