Taxing times

Rather than increasing fuel tax for hard-working taxpayers let us tax incoming commercial vehicles.

Stop them at the point of entry, check the vehicle destination and mileage and charge accordingly, including toll charges such as at Dartford, before the vehicle is allowed to enter the UK.

Also, we should have border checks on all points of entry into the UK — ports, airports and ferry terminals.
