Team of trainers from PTT, Fernwood-based gym, to complete 500-mile run as part of NHS fundraiser

A team of personal trainers have ditched the weights and put on their running shoes in a bid to raise money for the NHS.

Six trainers from PTT, a Fernwood-based gym, are in the process of completing a 500-mile run as part of their fundraiser.

The PTT team will be running in shirts donated by Simon Hudson, from DTB Europe.

“At PTT we are so grateful for the heroic efforts the NHS are making to tackle the coronavirus,” said Jamie Brown, PTT director.

“We thought we would like to do our bit to say thank you by fundraising for them in true PTT style.”

Their challenge must be completed inside one month and is the equivalent to 19 marathons — that’s just over three marathons each and averages to one every ten days.

All of their miles, times and splits will be tracked by the Nike Run Club app and will be completed inside the one hour of daily exercise as advised by the government.

“We wanted to find something to truly challenge us, where people can follow our progress as we go,” said Jamie.

So far they have raised more than £700 and ran more than 370 miles.

The challenge will finish on the May 15.
