Teenager admits to kicking bird in video





A teenager has admitted to deliberately kicking a bird in a video on social media.

The video is believed to have been taken on July 15 on Lime Grove, Newark, where the bird was seen to be incapacitated.

The boy was identified after the police appealed for information regarding a pigeon being kicked in a video that was widely shared.

Newark Police say the boy regrets his actions and is pending intervention by the Youth Justice Service. He will be dealt with under wildlife crime legislation.

A spokesperson said: "The public can be assured that all wildlife crime is taken seriously by the police and all matters reported will be investigated thoroughly, and offenders dealt with in an appropriate manner."

They added thanks to the public who shared the appeal which led to the teenager being identified.
