Youths' parents to expect a visit from Newark Police officers after engaging in anti-social behaviour including coughing at the public

A number of teenagers' parents can expect a visit from Newark Police officers after youths were reported to have been coughing at members of the public.

Newark's neighbourhood policing team were conducting vehicle and foot patrols across the town this weekend when they received reports of the teenagers acting in an anti-social manner.

Officers said the parents of the teen offenders would be expecting a visit from them and stated the crime would not be tolerated.

During the 13km foot patrol on Saturday, officers also visited the victims of the offence to reassure them.

The policing team said it had been engaging with members of the public and identified few issues other than the youths.

Officers said: "Please remember the advice — only leave your property if absolutely essential, for the purposes of food, health reasons or employment if you are unable to work from home.

"Do not meet others, even friends or family. By doing so, you are actively keeping yourself and others safe and protecting our NHS, emergency services and key workers."
