Temperatures are due to reach balmy highs this weekend, giving us the warmest day of 2020 so far.

After a few weeks of sunshine coupled with low temperatures, the weekend could be our first real glimpse of summer here in Newark.

Sunday is forecast to have hazy sunshine all day with temperatures reaching 18C — that's a warmer forecast than Barcelona, which is due to hit 15C.

It could still be a bit windy though, so don't overestimate when you venture out on your bout of daily exercise.

Now the clocks have gone forward you can expect an even longer day of sunshine, with the sun rising at around 6.26am and not setting until 7.46pm.

Despite the lovely weekend weather, Monday looks cloudy and rainy but still with a high of 14C.

It looks set to remain warm throughout the start of the week, with a day of beautiful sunshine on Tuesday.

With the weather in the county jumping from balmy sun to bouts of rain, you could be forgiven for wondering why.

The reason for the unsettled climate is Atlantic weather systems, which are bringing frequent bands of wet and windy conditions across the UK despite the increasing temperatures.

This means there could be a chance for wintry showers during a day of sunshine. It looks like April showers are on the cards as ever.
