Worksop dad releases children's book Hugo And Daddy’s Thailand Adventures, with profits donated to Children’s Bereavement Centre
A dad is due to release his second children’s book, with all profits being donated to the Children’s Bereavement Centre, Newark.
Ric Hart wrote Hugo And Daddy’s Thailand Adventures in memory of his late wife, Jade, who died shortly after giving birth to their son, Hugo, in 2018.
The book, which is suitable for children of any age, is due to be released on June 24 and reflects the couple’s own adventures in Thailand where they got married six years ago.
Ric, 37, hopes to take Hugo, 2, on the same adventures documented in the story in years to come.
“I just wanted it to be meaningful and have some purpose behind it”, Ric said.
“I wanted to use the book as something positive for Hugo as he gets older.”
The story was written during the the country’s national lockdown, which Ric says lit a fire inside him.
Profits from the sales of Hugo And Daddy’s Thailand Adventures will be given to the Children’s Bereavement Centre on King’s Road.
The centre is open to any child aged three to 18 and offers support with the grieving process brought on by death or terminal illness.
Ric said: “Donating the money to the Children’s Bereavement Centre was a no-brainer.
“Grief can destroy people. It’s how you carry it and how you go about your life that matters.”
Hugo and Daddy’s Thailand Adventures is Ric’s second children’s book.
His first story, Hugo And Daddy’s Night-time Adventures, is designed to help children, like Hugo through the bereavement process and earned a top spot on Amazon’s best-seller list.
Ric said: “Hugo And Daddy’s Night-time Adventures was released last October and I put so much meaning behind it.”
He has also written another story, Hugo And Daddy’s Superhero Adventures, which will be available to buy this summer.
“I’m finding huge hope behind writing these books for Hugo because it’s helping me as well. It’s been one hell of a journey”, Ric added.
Ric has recently built a website to help others honour Jade’s memory by uploading treasured pictures of her.
Ric said: “I created the website to allow Jade’s memory to live on forever.”
