Reader’s letter: Thank you to Mr Bike

After many unfortunate accidents with my bike I visited Nigel, the owner of Mr Bike at his new location at Lombard Street, Newark, off Millgate corner.

Nigel noticed my seat was not safe and replaced it, and said not to worry about paying as he remembered me when I was fundraising for the On Freedom’s Wings Lancaster Bomber memorial at Norton Disney and wanted to thank me by supporting me.

When I visited again when I had trouble with one of my back brakes he said ‘leave it with me, I will make your bike looking new again’.

Mr Bike wanted to have me safe on the road and worked on my bike over a few days.

Wow! When I picked up my bike he had repaired it and it was looking better and safe once again.

I have a collection box in his shop and left a few On Freedom’s Wings badges, Nigel was proudly wearing it and paid me £3. One of his customers has already given him £20.

Through the compassionate act of a Good Samaritan, I would like to say thank you Mr Bike. — LAURENCE GOFF, Newark.
