That goat's got talent

A dog trainer who took part in Crufts is hoping for television talent-show success with a goat.

Miss Nicci Hindson, who last year competed in agility classes at Crufts, is training Buddy the goat to dance and perform tricks and hopes to audition for ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent.

Miss Hindson (20) of Boundary Road, Newark, said training a goat was a challenge but she thought Buddy would impress the show’s judges.

“I think he would do well. I would love to see what Simon Cowell would make of him,” Miss Hindson said.

Miss Hindson contacted the Advertiser after reading about Darren, a goat at White Post Farm, Farnsfield, who waves at visitors.

Darren was offered a place on Britain’s Got Talent, but his owners turned it down.

Miss Hindson, who works part-time at WH Smith in Newark, is doing a course in canine behaviour and therapy at Bishop Burton College, Lincolnshire.

She hoped to take Buddy to auditions in Birmingham either this year or next, although getting him there could be tricky.

“If I took him by car I would probably have to park miles away and walk him through the middle of Birmingham,” she said.

“My main aim was to be able to let Buddy loose and call him and for him to come back to me. It’s amazing that he’s picked everything up really quickly.

“I was told you couldn’t train goats because they wouldn’t obey commands and wouldn’t remember them but I think he’s proved that wrong.”

Miss Hindson has had Buddy for seven months. She presses a clicker when he has done well before rewarding him with food.
