Now the Three Lions will be facing Spain in Berlin at 8pm on Sunday.

The employees who do not want to watch the match will also be paid as normal.

The supermarket said on their social media: “It is the least we can do after all their hard work.

“And come kick-off, England deserve every little bit of support.”

Stores in Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland will continue to open as usual.

Lincolnshire Co-Op has also announced to be closing its food stores from 7.30pm on Sunday to give their colleagues a chance to watch the Euro and cheer for the country.

The supermarket’s chief operating officer Steve Leach said: “It’s coming home! So, we’re closing our food stores on Sunday evening to allow our hard-working colleagues time to make plans for the weekend and watch the football if they’d like to.

“We hope by giving customers enough notice of this closure on Sunday evening, they’ll be able to pick up what they need in advance and that we’ll all be able to toast an England victory!”

Check the stores in your area for any announcements or early closures on Sunday before any last-minute surprises.
