Thousands of pounds has again been raised for Children in Need from across the Advertiser area this year.

Newark’s Mount Church of England Primary School raised £765, with one year six girl raising £100 of that and another baked cakes for the staff to donate.

Donations were through non-uniform, selling merchandise and collecting sponsor money. Children who raised £30 or more were entered into a raffle to win one of four Pudsey bears.

Head Claire Kent said: “We had lots of fun activities within the classrooms including decorating biscuits and making Pudsey puppets."

Children at John Hunt Academy, Balderton, had a colourful day and celebrated the fact they can now do more together as a school community following the easing of covid restrictions.

Children came to form a rainbow in different colours which tied in nicely with this year’s Children in Need theme Together We Can.

Every child also did a handprint which they wrote one kind word on.

The children brought in a donation to dress up and there was also a cake sale organised by the year six prefects.

Pupils at a dance school in Balderton attempted to break a world record. 78 students from the Charlotte Hudson School of Dance participated in the world record attempt for the most simultaneous tap dancers performing the same routine. The event raised £880.

The youngest participant was owner Charlotte Hudson’s one-week-old son George, with the oldest dancer being in her 70s.

Charlotte, who took over the dance school from Charlotte Hamilton in September, said: “It was brilliant, the children loved it. It was a really busy atmosphere, all the parents stayed and watched and really enjoyed it.

“I think it’s probably the most the dance school has ever raised for charity, but we always try and do charity events and stay involved.

“With the dance school being primarily for children, it’s really nice to give something back to a charity for children.”
