Three teens, 15, 16 and 18, in custody after burglary in Bingham where elderly woman had belongings stolen
Three teenagers are in custody after a house burglary where an elderly woman had her purse stolen.
The victim reported the incident at 6am on Wednesday after she noticed a watch and her house keys were also taken overnight.
It happened on Carnarvon Place, Bingham, between 9pm and 5.30am.
The suspects were detained in Grantham on Thursday after a stolen number plate was spotted on a car.
They were arrested in connection with the burglary, as well as another attempted break-in where a door was damaged at a house on Grove Road, Bingham, on Tuesday evening. There was also a theft of a number plate from the market place.
Detective Sergeant Gary Hewson of Nottinghamshire Police, leading the investigation, said: "This must have been a terrifying experience for the victims involved. It's believed the offenders entered the house via an open downstairs window and taken her belongings.
"Meanwhile the previous evening it was reported that a group of boys also tried to enter a house in Bingham, but were unsuccessful.
“Burglary is a very serious offence and we will always thoroughly investigate reports with a view to taking appropriate action against offenders.
"We are pleased to have arrested a man and two boys aged 18, 16 and 15, and we still urge people to call in with any information to help with our continued inquiries.
"If you saw anything suspicious in Bingham on Monday and Tuesday evening, contact the force. If you have any information or dash cam footage please call 101."
