A yellow weather warning of thunderstorms has been put in place for Newark
The warning started earlier today and remains in place until 5pm.
Nottinghamshire Police has also warned residents to take care after surface water flooding affected a number of roads and properties in the county yesterday.
The Met Office warns thunderstorms may cause flooding and power cuts in a few places.
It says there is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds
Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost.
