Tie the knot at the pub

A village pub has become the first in Nottinghamshire to be granted a licence to hold wedding services on the premises.

The Full Moon Inn at Morton successfully applied for a three-year licence to host civil marriages and civil partnership ceremonies.

It is believed to be the first venue in the county, which operates solely as a pub, to be granted such a licence.

The landlord and landlady, Mr and Mrs Will White, are targeting smaller weddings.

Couples can hire The Full Moon’s Morton Room free of charge for wedding ceremonies in June, July and August.

Mrs Rebecca White said they wanted to get the ball rolling and encourage people to try the venue.

She said the pub would be ideal for last minute weddings or cancellations because other venues would probably be fully booked.

Wedding parties in the Morton Room, which was formerly the pool room, can be kept separate from the main pub because an alternative access is available.

It can accommodate 30 people for a sit-down meal or 50 people for a buffet.

Couples have to book the pub both for the wedding ceremony and the reception.
