Darth Vader married his bride at a Star Wars-themed wedding.
Guests at the ceremony at Newark Register Office also wore costumes from the cult film series or dressed as characters from films made by the happy couple’s favourite film writer and director, Quentin Tarantino.
Mr Graham Curson (36) and Miss Samantha Pietruch (26) of Goldstraw Lane, Fernwood, decided on a fancy dress element after opting for an alternative to the traditional white wedding.
Mr Curson said: “We have both been married before and did the all-singing all-dancing white wedding and it’s not us. We decided we wanted to do it our way.”
The couple discovered they had a shared interest in films after meeting at RAF Northolt three years ago where they worked as cartographers.
The bride, who is due to give birth to their first child in February, wore a black dress and carried white roses.
She is the daughter of Mrs Helen Cheetham of Shelton and was attended by Mr Curson’s daughter, Neve (4) and Katie and Sophie Dellipiani, who were dressed as geisha girls from Kill Bill.
The pages were Miss Pietruch’s son, Leo (4) and Dan and George Curson who dressed as clone troopers from Star Wars.
Miss Pietruch said: “Graham is the one who is into Star Wars but we both like the Tarantino films.
“The kids are Star Wars fanatics and we wanted them to be involved all the way through.”
The bridegroom, who carried a light sabre, is the son of Mr and Mrs Ronald Curson of Glovers Lane, Balderton.
He removed his Darth Vader helmet during the ceremony.
“Darth Vader is my favourite character,” said Mr Curson. “I think it’s the power thing.”
The best man was Mr David Jones.
As they entered the ceremonial room, the Star Wars theme music was played. A song from Reservoir Dogs was played as they left.
A reception was held at The Atrium on Castlegate.
They plan to honeymoon in the summer and will continue to live in Fernwood.
The superintendent registrar for the Newark district, Mrs Diane Webster, said: “It’s a bit of fun and something different.
“Not many people know you can do this but we’re happy to cater for almost anything.”
