Time to take nominations to the next level of judging for 2024 Newark Business Awards

Nominees have until tomorrow (March 29) to complete their submissions for this year’s Newark Business Awards.

The nominations closed last week and now we have moved on to the next stage of the process.

Everyone who entered a category will have already filled in their basic details on the business awards website — www.newarkbusinessawards.co.uk — to formally make their nominations.

Anyone submitting a nomination will have been sent a more detailed electronic pack.

This needs to be fully filled in in order to complete the nomination process.

Advertiser editor Sharon Hodkin said: “That’s it. The nominations have closed and we cannot accept any more.

“Thank you to everyone who has made a nomination over the last few weeks.

“It is now absolutely vital that you complete your electronic entry packs with as much detail as possible.

“Without these, you will not be able to move on to the next stage of the process — the judging of all the categories.”

Once all the entry the packs are received they will be sent on to our independent judges for each category.

They will use the packs — and only the information in the packs — to decide the four finalists in each category.

The 11 categories this year are: Business of the Year, Businessperson of the Year, Employer of the Year, Team of the Year, Environmental Champion, Best Social Enterprise, Best Independent Retailer, Business Innovation, Customer Care, Best Start-up, and our newest addition leisure, tourism and hospitality.

All the finalists will be revealed in the Advertiser on April 18.

After the announcement, the hard work really starts for our judging teams.

Over the following weeks they will visit each finalist to see the business first-hand and speak to owners and staff to get a real feel for the operation.

This will be used to decide the overall winners and a highly-commended business in each category.

These will be revealed in a black-tie gala celebration at Newark Showground on Friday, June 14.

Around 300 people will be at the event, making a great celebration for local businesses as well as a chance to network.

If you do not want to enter this year’s awards but still want to get involved, a range of sponsorship opportunities are available.

More details are available on the awards website.
