A piece of land blighted by anti-social behaviour and illegal Traveller encampments is set to be purchased by Newark Town Council.

Members of the finance and general purposes committee met last night (Wednesday) to discuss the future of the site off Cedar Avenue, Newark.

The land has seen several illegal Traveller occupancies over the years, sparking calls for it to safeguarded as a public open space.
