Dozens of people stop at Newark Market Place for two-minute of silence for VE Day




As today, May 8) the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, dozens of people stopped for a national two-minute silence.

Across the country, people stopped at 12noon for a moment of silence to remember and thank those who fought for our freedom during World War II.

The date marks the end of the war in Europe, specifically the formal surrender of Nazi Germany on May, 1945.

Newark was no different when the Parish church bells rang at midday, those walking around the pre-loved and collectors market at Newark Market Place, people stopped their shopping and walks to remember.
