A £20,000 skatepark project is moving forward.

Southwell Town Council’s environment committee, which is leading the Park Lane skatepark project, has submitted plans for a design brief.

Chairman David Martin said: “The idea is to get a design brief from a manufacturer at zero cost which will then come back to full council and then get three quotes against that design brief.”

Steve Perry, a member of the committee, asked if a BMX track could be incorporated into the plans at the skatepark.

He was told it would be unlikely.

“We don’t have a site where we can have a skatepark and a BMX track simultaneously,” said Peter Harris.

“This will be a beginner and intermediate area, for that you would need to travel to Mansfield or Nottingham.”

The town council will discuss the design brief in full at its next meeting.
