Transport for London has provided the public with travel advice for Queen Elizabeth II's funeral

Transport for London has issued advice to those travelling to the capital on Monday to pay their respects.

Thousands of people will be making the journey for the Queen’s funeral, which will lead to busy services and station closures.

The Westminster area will be one of the main areas affected, including major road closures.

To keep the city moving and ensure that all the travellers are safe, Transport for London advises to plan ahead, organise and check the travel routes.

It warns that due to the traffic and number of people travelling, allow more time for the journeys in and around London.

It is advised to follow the instructions of the Transport for London staff, event stewards and the police.

The best ways to get around central London on Monday, September 19, are The Tube, rail and walking.

The railway stations that should be expected to be busier than normal are Westminster, Green Park, Charing Cross, Embankment, Victoria, Waterloo, St James's Park, Lancaster Gate, Hyde Park Corner and Marble Arch.

As the funeral will take place in the Westminster area, roads will be closed, therefore bus and taxis are not advised within the central London area.
