Travellers spotted at Bridge Community Centre site in Newark

Residents have reported sightings of travellers parked up illegally on land in Newark.

The travellers are reported to have re-located to the Bridge Community Centre, close to Yorke Drive in the Bridge ward of Newark.

When contacted for comment a Newark and Sherwood District Council spokesperson said: “We are aware that a group of travellers have relocated to the Bridge Community Centre site. Officers have attended and completed welfare assessments which we are required to do.

"This land is owned by the District Council and we are taking appropriate action to seek possession of the land as soon as possible.”
