Motoring offences and disqualifications among latest cases from Nottingham Magistrates’ Court
An uninsured driver has been barred from the roads due to his repeat offending.
Hal Gabriel Barton, 20, of Main Street, Lowdham, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court for sentencing on January 29.
The BMW driver used the vehicle without insurance on Park Lane, Lambley, on August 9, 2024.
The offence had been proven on November 7, 2024.
Barton was fined £392, and ordered to pay costs of £247.
He was handed eight penalty points, and disqualified from driving for six months — which the court determined was obligatory due to his repeat offending.
Also disqualified from driving was Stefan Victor Marinescu, 60, of Shirley Road, Leicester, who broke the 30mph speed limit on the Great North Road, Newark, on April 25, 2024.
Mercedes driver Marinescu pleaded guilty to the offence and was sentenced when he appeared before magistrates on January 29.
He was banned from driving, obligatory due to repeat offending, however it was a shorter disqualification of 28 days as the court heard he was likely to lose his self-employed work if he could not drive.
Another speeding driver, Russell Fisher, 53, of Silverwood Road, Bottesford, was sentenced the day before, on January 28.
He pleaded guilty to driving a Nissan, exceeding the 30mph limit, on Southwell Road, Lowdham, on July 2, 2024.
Fisher was fined £40, ordered to pay costs of £126, and had three points added to his licence. His fine was reduced from £60 to £40 to take his guilty plea into account.
Daniel Guiseppe Collins, 49, of Larkhall Place, Mansfield, was also sentenced for speeding on January 28.
DAF driver Collins was recorded at 48mph on the 40mph limited A616 at Little Carlton on May 13, 2024 — an offence pleaded guilty to on November 29.
He was fined £60, ordered to pay £54, and had three points added to his licence. His fine had been reduced from £90 due to his guilty plea.
Sentenced on January 29 was Julie Griffiths, 55, of Laxton Road, Egmanton.
She pleaded guilty to failing to give police information relating to the identification of a driver of a Citroen on July 9, 2024, who was alleged to be guilty of an offence.
Griffiths was fined £250 and ordered to pay cost of £210. Six points were added to her licence.
