Two businesses fraudulently claimed financial support grants during covid, says Newark and Sherwood District Council

Grants paid to two businesses during covid have been found to have been fraudulently claimed.

Of 2,269 grants paid by Newark and Sherwood District Council to businesses under the government’s Small Business and Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant schemes, 749 were flagged as requiring a review.

A data-matching exercise was done through the National Fraud Initiative.
