Two motorcyclists causing problems were given covid fines by Newark officers.

Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire Police received several reports from members of the public in recent weeks complaining about a group of motorcyclists on either side of the county boundary on Sunday mornings.

Officers were able to find and stop two motorcycles from the group.

Section 59 notices were issued to the riders and both were reported under the COVID-19 restrictions where they will receive fixed penalty notices in due course.

Officers said: "The action today sends a strong message to the rest of the group and anyone else who would consider the unauthorised use of off-road vehicles in the future.

"The police will continue this enforcement activity over the coming weeks and months and we encourage members of the public to continue to make contact with us regarding these issues."
