Two new chairs for medical centre

By Peter Harris

Two new examination chairs are in place at Southwell Medical Centre after patients raised the money to pay for them.

Southwell Medical Users’ Group paid about £1,500 for thechairs, which can be electronically adjusted.

Nurses at the surgery, on The Ropewalk, can move patients up or down, depending on their height, and can lower the back of the chair to turn it into a bed.

The users’ group organised a raffle in December, which covered the cost of the second chair. The first chair was paid for with money previously raised.

A partner in the practice, Dr Henry Cottell, said the chairs were important because an increasingly elderly population found it difficult to get on a standard examination couch.

"Southwell Medical Users Group give wonderful support to the practice," he said.
