Confirmed coronavirus cases in Newark and Sherwood reaches 2,623 (Sunday, November 22) as national lockdown continues

Sixty three coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Newark and Sherwood according to the latest figures released by Public Health England, taking the total to 2,623.

Ashfield 3,228 (up 58) Bassetlaw 3,291 (up 57) Broxtowe 3,121 (up 30) Gedling 3,209 (up 36) Mansfield 2,698 (up 71) Newark and Sherwood 2,623 (increase of 63) Rushcliffe 3,118 (up 50) Nottingham 16,220 (up 151) Nottinghamshire 21,288 (365).

A total of 79 people resident in Newark and Sherwood have died within 28 days of testing positive for covid-19, according to the latest public data.

The country is in lockdown. The plan is that restrictions will be eased from Wednesday, December 2. However, if the lockdown has failed to bring the virus under control, measures may have to continue.

Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced the Job Retention Scheme, or furlough, will be extended until the end of March.

According to the latest public data ­— 1,493,383 patients in the UK have tested positive and 54,626 people have died.
