Upset by sign size
A replacement sign in Balderton has caused concern because it is smaller than the previous one and does not give the village the prominence it needs.
Parish councillor Mr Neil Allsopp said he noticed the old sign on London Road that welcomed people to the village disappeared in November. It has been replaced with a smaller sign.
A comparison between the two shows the new sign, near Highfields School, is much smaller than the sign welcoming people into Balderton from the Fernwood direction.
Mr Allsopp said: “The first sign was 5ft and magnificent. Now we have an afterthought. It is also partially hidden by trees. It is a disgraceful sign.”
A spokesman for Nottinghamshire County Council, responsible for the signs, said the old sign was stolen.
She said because the old sign was not there, they were not aware the new sign was smaller until it was brought to their attention by the Advertiser.
