People urged to join the stem cell register in memory of Advertiser reporter Warwick Lane
Members of Newark Business Club were urged at their latest meeting to join the stem cell register in memory of Advertiser sports reporter Warwick Lane, who died last month.
Club chairman Kerri Saxby asked members to consider signing up through the Anthony Nolan blood cancer charity, which accepts healthy people aged 16 to 30.
It particularly needs more young men to join the register.
Other organisations help people to become a donor, such as DKMS, which signs people up to the age of 55.
Warwick, 25, of Norwell, died in Nottingham City Hospital after a second battle with leukaemia. While in hospital he launched a campaign to encourage people to join the stem cell register, writing the story himself from his bed.
