Views spoilt

By NewarkAdvertiser Reporter

I am writing in disgust at the unwarranted construction of new signage for Brackenhurst campus, Southwell.

It is completely out of proportion for its purpose of direction and now spoils what must be one of the finest views in Nottinghamshire, that of the town of Southwell, the minster, and the countryside beyond.

I cannot understand how planning permission was given for such an expansive sign when there is already adequate signage.

I trust the university authorities and the relevant planning department will now take into account both aesthetic and community views and remove this blot on the landscape. — John Lightwood, Kirklington Road, Southwell.
