Coronavirus: Newark singer raises much-needed funds for Beaumond House Community Hospice
A singer raised funds for a hospice online after a fundraising event was cancelled.
Matt Shephardson, of Newark, again stepped up, having already held a virtual gig in March, with funds this time going to Beaumond House Community Hospice.
He said the fundraiser was started by friend Zak Edlin, prompting Matt to put out an advert and spread the word.
“The hospice is such a valuable asset to the town, and hearing it is struggling in these difficult times gave me a desire to do something,” Matt said.
“The gig, again, went really well and I was also really touched by a group of friends who clubbed together to donate over £200.”
Matt said he thinks around £800 was raised for the hospice — along with nearly £1,700 previously for the Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham.
