East Midlands Combined County Authority seeking voluntary sector representative to advise board’s decision making
A new associate board member has been sought to advocate for the voluntary, community, and social enterprise across the region.
The Mayor of the East Midlands, Claire Ward, has invitited expressions of interest from the voluntary, community, and social enterprise (VCSE) sector, to sit as an associate board member on the East Midlands Combined County Authority board.
Ms Ward said: ““I’m focused on driving inclusive growth in our region that benefits everyone. I’m really keen to ensure that the voice of the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector is heard loud and clear on our board and I encourage members of our VCSE sector to consider putting themselves forward for this very important role.”
The VCSE associate board member will be responsible for advocating for the sector, promoting inclusion and addressing the needs of under-represented groups across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
They will also be expected to draw on their expertise to inform decision-making by the board, which is chaired by the Mayor and is the the most senior decision-making forum in the authority.
As associate board member, the sector representative will be able to help shape the authority’s work — including it’s long-term regional strategy and current action for economic, social, community, and environmental improvement.
They will join three othe associate members, who represent the business; higher education and further education; and trade union sectors.
The closing date for expressions of interest is Friday, January 31, with interested candidates invited to submit a CV outlining relevant experience alongside a short personal statement no longer than one page to governance@eastmidsdevo.org.uk.
The associate member role is a non-voting role, and also a voluntary role with expenses covered.
