Volunteers have closed in on a £10,000 target to help supply scrubs for NHS staff.

Scrub Hub Nottinghamshire is raising the money to supply material to create up to 1,000 sets of scrubs for front line workers.

Charlotte Hamilton, who runs a dance school in Newark, is one of 150 volunteers sewing for the NHS.

She signed up after seeing an advert on television.

“I have got machines and an empty studio, so I may as well do what I can,” Charlotte said.

“They send you a pattern, you pick up the material, you pattern and you make some. It’s as simple as that. For those who can sew it is very straightforward.”

Charlotte, a pharmacy technician for ten years at Queen’s Medical Centre. Nottingham, before launching her dance school, has also been making masks after requests from undertakers and pharmacists.

“We can’t all just sit back and do nothing, we have to pitch in where we can,” she said.

One set of scrubs costs around £15.

“Through this fund, after material costs have been deducted, we will be proudly donating to help support the NHS Practitioners Health Service,” a hub spokesman said.

“They help care for and support the mental well-being of NHS workers who are doing such an amazing and selfless job of looking after us all during this time.”
