Mrs Marika Tribe says the burden of decision-making, like the one banning surrounds on graves in Newark Cemetery, falls on elected town councillors (Taking The Edge Off Graves’ Appearance, Advertiser, March 26).

I think they are actually elected to represent their electorate and if the electorate want surrounds on graves that is what they should vote for.

Hawton Holt has had £21,000 spent on it and the project manager Mr James Radley hopes we will use it and enjoy the wildlife (Park Life Will Suit All Ages, Advertiser, April 2).

Could he tell us how to get in there?

The gate from Sconce Park is locked. The only other way in is via the allotments where the gate is also locked, even when allotment holders are there.

If allotment holders allow picnickers in and then want to go home do they have to lock said picnickers in or throw them out?
