Walkers join fundraising Starlight Stride in support of Beaumond House Hospice Care
Walkers turned out in force to support the first Starlight Stride for Beaumond House Hospice Care on Saturday.
It was a 10k memorial walk for families and friends who have lost a loved one, and raised money for Beaumond House’s work.
Melissa Gaffney, events and community fundraising manager said: “The Starlight Stride was such a special event that I haven’t stopped buzzing since Saturday.
“Our walkers were incredible, each walking in memory of a loved one. It was an event I don’t think we will all soon forget and we can’t wait to bring the Starlight Stride back in 2023.”
The walk started and ended at Newark Rugby Club and made its way around Newark town centre, pausing for a moment of remembrance at Beaumond House hospice on London Road.
At the end, finishers received a goodie bag, food and hot drinks.
Participants raised a minimum of £50 sponsorship to take part, alongside a £15 entry fee.
It was sponsored by Kirkgate Dental Care and Newark Rugby Club.
