Nottinghamshire County Council have released video detailing how potholes and roads are repaired under new strategy

If you have ever wondered how roads are repaired, a council has released video of the process.

Nottinghamshire County Council released the video — on a pot hole riddled stretch of road on Gonalston Lane in Hoveringham — so that residents can see how repairs are made.

The time-lapse video comes as the council have made changes to their road maintenance approach over the past year, attempting to move away from smaller pothole repairs to larger scale patching.

Councillor Neil Clarke MBE, cabinet member for Transport and Environment visited to see the road before and after works had been done.

In the video he said: "I've talked before about the Highways Review Panel and about the recommendations that came out of that to change the thrust and emphasis of how we do road repairs, from small pothole repairs to long term patch repairs.

"A long term patch repair will be here for a long time to come. So people can drive over it and cycle over it without fear of any potholes."
