Watch Nottinghamshire Police's knife crime team make a bumper drugs bust on tonight's Police Interceptors
Nottinghamshire Police’s drugs-busting abilities are showcased on national television tonight as cops raid an address suspected to be linked to illegal drugs supply.
Members of the proactive city knife crime team swiftly arrested a number of suspects and recovered quantities of Class A and B drugs after carrying out the raid at an address in Radford.
The positive crime-fighting action was taken after information that suspected drug users had been seen attending the property and then leaving shortly after.
Sergeant Matt Daley, of the city knife crime team, said: “Proactive operations such as this highlight our ongoing commitment to cracking down on the supply of illegal drugs which we know causes great harm in our communities.
“Information we received suggested that drugs were being purchased at this address. Drugs cause nothing but misery and can ruin lives so we’re always pleased when we’re able to positively disrupt this sort of criminality, as in this instance, resulting in arrests and drugs seizures.
“Tackling drug-related crime is a key priority for Nottinghamshire Police. We know that drug dealing often has links to wider organised criminality and leads to serious violence on our streets.
“Proactive operations of his nature just go to show how seriously we treat this crime type and how we will continue to act on information that we receive and take robust action to keep people safe from the wide-reaching harm drugs can cause.
“Our teams work tirelessly and remain as committed as ever to taking illegal drugs off our streets. We’re determined to prevent drugs getting onto the streets of our local communities and not to let organised criminals cause fear in our communities while making financial gains from taking advantage of vulnerable people.
"And our message to anyone involved in the supply of illegal drugs couldn’t be clearer: we’re watching you. It could be you next being paid a visit and facing a trip to custody, prison time and a criminal record.”
As a result of the raid, carried out in May 2021, a 50-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug and possession with intent to supply Class A and B drugs.
A 51-year-old man was questioned on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A and B drugs and two men, aged 49 and 32, were arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs.
It turned out be a very productive day for the knife crime team, with a 38-year-old man arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B drug, after officers searched another address in the Radford area.
The action in tonight’s brand new episode of Police Interceptors doesn’t stop there.
Also on the show firearms cops are called to reports of a man suspected of having a loaded crossbow and police dogs Quantum and Morse take centre stage as they help detain a suspected shoplifter, a man wanted for assault and a runaway driver during separate incidents.
