A multi-hazard storm is forecast to hit the country on New Year's Day with warnings in place for the area.

The start of 2025 will bring strong winds to Newark, the Met Office has warned.

A yellow weather warning has been issued lasting from 9am New Year’s Day (Wednesday) to 6am the following day (Thursday).

It is likely that journeys on the road and rail could take longer due to the strong winds, with gusts in Lincolnshire forecast to reach up to 44mph.

Some short term loss of power is also possible and roads and bridges could close.

Rain is also forecast in the area throughout New Year’s Day.

Elsewhere in the country yellow weather warnings for snow and rain have also been issued.
