Wetherspoons Sir John Arderne, near Market Place, Newark to close doors this month




Newark Wetherspoons is to close its doors this month and the building is for sale.

The Sir John Arderne near Market Place will have its final day on Sunday, August 20.

The pub first announced it to be closing doors in March this year.

Wetherspoon spokesman Eddie Gershon said: “We acknowledge that the pub’s staff and customers will be disappointed with the decision.

“All staff are being offered jobs at other Wetherspoon pubs.

“We thank our staff for their service over the years and our loyal customers for their custom.”

Wetherspoons said it had decided to close the pub for commercial reasons.

The pub chain has closed down 29 pubs across the country this year.
