Nottinghamshire County Show could remain one-day event rather than two at Newark Showground
Covid forced some changes to the organisation of the Nottinghamshire County Show this year, chiefly it becoming a one-day event rather than two.
The show, the 137th, was returning after a two-year absence due to the pandemic and just took place on Saturday rather than Saturday and Sunday.
And the change appeared to prove a success with thousands of people attending throughout the day.
A huge hit proved to be a flypast by the RAF's sole remaining serviceable Lancaster bomber from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, which made three passes of the showground in the afternoon.
Chairman of Newark and Nottinghamshire Agricultural Society Roger Jackson said: "If today proves to be the success that it appears to be I think it likely that we will continue with this format."
Show president Professor Edward Peck said: "The show offers a chance for the community to come together to celebrate all that is about the Nottinghamshire rural community.
"I am thrilled to see so many people here."
Sherwood MP Mark Spencer, himself a farmer, said: "It's a fantastic show and a credit to Notts."
